Ruben's Mexican Grill

Ruben’s was awesome Mexican food and I should know since I’ve grown up in South-Central Texas eating different styles of Mexican food my whole life! I would like to show you how beautiful the presentation of our Shrimp Ceviche and our Avocado Salad were! However, all I have to show is the evidence. Those of you who know me well will notice there is NO desert plate (and I didn’t get one too go), I ate until I was too full to put anything else in my mouth!!!

Went here for dinner this evening. It wasn’t too busy. We didn’t have very good service. After nearly 20 minutes of sitting, our waitress came to us and told us there was a mix up with our food and asked us what we ordered. She didn’t really apologize after the excuse which would have improved this rating. When we finally did get our food, it was great. The food was flavorful and had great portions. I was really looking forward to eating here due to the reviews but left slightly disappointed. Also, the prices on the menu aren’t the actual prices. We didn’t notice the sign until after we ordered. The chips were overdone which was explained to us that chips get stale when the humidity is high and they have to recook them to get rid of the stale taste. The salsa was good which made the chips a non-issue.

We have only eaten here a hand full of times. Today I would admit we were a bit disappointed. We were not fans of either mild or hot salsas. Entree's could have been better. Spent nearly $30 and walk away wishing we had maybe gone elsewhere. We have been pleased with the restaurant on previous visits. Might just have been an off day.
