Roma Restaurant & Brewery

Last Friday evening I drove about 40 minutes to check out this breweries beers. After sitting at the bar in the restaurant that was less than a third full, it took 10 minutes for someone to ask if I had been waited on. I said no and got a beer list from her and proceeded to get a flight of four samplers figured out. It took about 3 minutes and then I waited for about another 10 minutes with no one asking for my order. I got so ticked off, I left. This was while someone walked past me at least ten times. They had plenty of time to B.S. with each other and the other customers that actually got waited on, but I guess I did not rate high enough on their list to get helped.

So glad I found this place! Great Italian dishes that seem to be pretty authentic. Regardless they are delicious! Other entrees as well. Great happy hour specials. Wonderful appetizers. Nice quiet dining area but also a bar area. They are their own brewery and make a lot of their own brews. Besides a bar and restaurant there is a deli and a small grocery store. Real clean place including bathrooms. Owner obviously takes a lot of pride in the restaurant and the menu. Can't wait to go back again. Went there with a party of seven and everyone had wonderful food.

I've heard such good things about Roma and maybe I set my expectations too high. It was very busy, but we got a spot at the bar after a few minutes. The bartenders were helpful, although they paid a lot more attention to the regulars and forgot about us a couple of times. The beer selection is amazing - many options to choose from including their own brews. We ordered a veggie pizza and it was just ok. I love a great red sauce and have a favorite at a St Paul restaurant, so everything is compare to that, and this one just didn't measure up. It actually didn't have a lot of flavor - it could have used a lot more garlic and better tomatoes. who knows, but overall the pizza was just ok as a result. The crust was thicker than thin crust and overall it was a bit soggy w/some of the vegetable choices they've made. We will go back though as I'd like to try other vegetarian options on their menu.
