Rodney Scott's BBQ Homewood

I was in town for work and Rodney Scott's was just a short walk from the hotel. I ate there for lunch one day and dinner the next. For lunch, I had the turkey sandwich and it was smokey, moist and delicious. It could use some acid in the form of either pickles and/or onion, but it just comes plain with white sauce. For dinner, I ordered the catfish with hush puppies, mac & cheese and greens. Yes, yes and yes! My order had two very large fillets that were crispy and tender, but a tad bit under seasoned. The hush puppies were more cakey and less corn meal than you'd expect but still good. Add some honey butter and it takes them over the top. The mac & cheese was seriously some of the best I've ever had and the greens were somewhat sweet (different but I liked it) and tender but still with some bite. I'll definitely visit again. Suggest to try: Catfish (unless you are super hungry one fillet is more than enough), Hush puppies, Turkey sandwich (ask to add pickles), mac & cheese, greens and

I love Rodney Scott BBQ… I will go out of my way in Birmingham to eat there. Their smoked wings are some of the best I’ve ever had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside with a great smoked flavor. Quick counter service. This location is spacious and has great outdoor dining options.

I call myself a Pitmaster I am a sauce King but after going here I learned that I can not Cook ribs.
