No idea how we could live in Lake county for 20 years and not hear of this place until recently. It is awesome in every way. The people are very nice, the service is A+, a big variety menu, food was made from scratch and very delicious, and a beautiful view on the lake. Never heard of Polish pickle soup, but it was very good. Stephanie was outstanding. She gave us details about meals, a little history of the place, offered suggestions for the next time, and helped make our visit very pleasant. Too bad we were so full we didn't try the desserts as they looked so good.
The location is amazing, building has interesting decor. The main cook/owner Jack has a very positive and fun character to him. When we arrived the hostess must have had a bad day or something because it really showed, cold and unfriendly. Rest of staff was fine. Bread delivered to the table was at least a day old. I ordered the rainbow trout. The portion was rather small, one small fillet, usually polish tradition is to serve whole fish as rainbow trouts are not big in first place. Fish had a extreme fishy taste to it, which means it was already few days old and you could have tasted it that it wasn't overly fresh. The sauce used on the trout was some strange almost based sauce. Location of the restaurant is the selling point... Rest needs a lot of improvement. Best of luck to Jack, wish him the best.
Fabulous old building with tons of fascinating history perched on the shore of the lake. Absolutely superb Polish food. We had the Cod, the Polish platter, the borscht and the stuffed cabbage. All were excellent. Good selection of Polish beer. This place is well worth a visit. Parking: Plenty of parking.
