Que Tal Pollo

Have gone to many so called Mexican restaurants around Kansas City. I haven't tried all but today we finally stumbled upon an actual Mexican restaurant not Tex-Mex or wanna be mex restaurant. I ordered a Torta De Al-Pastor, grilled chicken combo and a breakfast burrito. I tried all and they all were amazing and great tasting. This my Mexican restaurant from now on. Have missed a great Mexican restaurant since moving here from Los Angeles, now we won't.

We tried this restaurant today, the Arrowhead Dr. Location in independence. The food was really good. Chips and salsa were good. We ordered the queso dip and it was different than other queso dip from other Mexican restaurants, this one has a really good sort of smokey flavor. My husband got chicken and steak street tacos, which he liked. They had a good amount of meat on them which is his usual gripe about other places that give you a small amount of protein on tacos. I got the flautas which were yummy, the avocado sauce that was served on them was delish. I would have liked it on the side rather than on top of the flautas. The beans that came with the food were fantastic! One of our favorite parts of the meal. Service was S L O W but not for lack of effort on the servers part but rather, lack of staff … there were about 3 people doing the work for what should be 8 and they were all working very hard. Took us over 5 minutes to get greeted and seated. We were the only ones waiting to be seated. Once seated took about 10 minutes for our server to come take our drink order. The salsa and chips, they gave us one salsa bowl (small) to share between 2 people. I ordered a steak burrito (actually asked if they could do half chicken and half steak and was told no) but the steak was seasoned way to much with regular taco seasoning and was very dry. Had no salsa no cheese no nothing. Ate a couple bites and that was it for me. Our server never came back by to check on us or refill our drinks. Had to flag her down to get our check and then about her 10 minutes for another server that we flagged down to take our payment. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. (This was at their new location on 40 @ Arrowhead) When our server brought us the bill and asked if we wanted to go boxes I said no the food was gross and I couldn’t eat it, she ignored my comment.
