Port Restaurant and Bar

I went on Mother's Day 2022, and in terms of positives, the food is very good! Port is a perfect restaurant for mobile orders or eating at home. But everything was very expensive and the service was abismal. It felt like we had to fight for our waiter's attention, despite the restaurant being only 1/4 occupied. I believe part of this is the fact that a 20% gratuity is built into the bill, so the servers have little incentive to provide good service since their tip does not depend on it. Also, the music was very loud to the point where it was difficult to communicate with the waitstaff and those sitting at the same table.

Well, I want to let everyone know about our experience here, which happened about a month or so ago. My husband ordered the lentil soup, took 1 bite and immediately called the waitress, Savannah over to tell her it was awful. Savannah was very nice, but said she couldn't exchange it for something else without her manager's approval. The manager came and insisted it wasn't his problem if we didn't like the lentil soup. After too much time going back and forth with my husband, the manager finally said he would exchange the soup, but when our bill came we had been charged an automatic service fee of 20% on a two person bill. WHAT? The manager did the wrong thing here, but we just paid the bill and will NEVER go back there. I also want to say the music is so loud you must shout to have any conversation even with the person sitting right next to you. WATCH YOUR BILL!!!!

3 stars is kind of an average. I would give the food a 5. Service and ambience not so much. We did not see the dining room with the tablecloths shown in another review, nor were we shown other dining areas. The service was both good and lacking. We arrived there at 9pm having looked online for a restaurant open late and they were supposed to be open until 11. Their website did not mention the kitchen closes much earlier. So the waitress told us to order quickly as it was closing. Toward the end of the meal she also wanted us to pay right away because she was leaving soon. REALLY hate getting the we're-closing-soon bum's rush. Otherwise the servers (we had more than one) were friendly and helpful. One guy (the manager?) was kind enough to turn the music down from the earsplitting level. Since we were the only people in the room that didn't disappoint anyone else. The excellence of the food was surprising when the place looks like a cheapie college beer joint.
