Pollos Maria

We found this gem while looking for Mexican food restaurant near us and Pollos Maria was suggested. We found a space to park in front. There were two parties dining outside and three people waiting for their order numbers to be called. Our order was ready in less than ten minutes. They had a full kitchen staff working. We noticed that you can order ahead for pick up too. They have a huge menu selection. We apent $20.11 and decided on the 5 rolled fried chicken tacos which was prepared with freshly cooked chicken, guacamole, shredded cheese and lettuce. We also had a #11 with an enchilada (chicken with green sauce), a beef taco (crispy shell) with shredded lettice and cheese, rice, and beans (refried). You could get while beans instead of refried. The food was freshly made and tasty. Perfectly seasoned, not over seasoned. Crispy tacos were exceptional - not oily or greasy. Pollos Maria has changed. Yes they were open during Covid which was really great because none of the restaurants in Carlsbad were serving food. I’ve lived in the Carlsbad area since 1990 and have been going to Pollos Maria since. In the last year they really changed they lost the magic, they raise the prices, and they offer zero service other than taking your money and stuffing food in front of you. It’s a shame again here’s another restaurant that used to be great that is not grade any more mostly because no one has any idea what service is any more.
