Phil & Derek's Restaurant

First time here. Walked in on a Friday about 9:00 and there was live music, then they begin to change set. Regular music was put on over the speakers and for an hour or so. Then the next set came and begin to sing a song they didn't know the lyrics to. Our server was talking about her ADHD, the drinks were extremely sweet. Ordered appetizers. It took 30 minutes to get them. When we did finally get them the chicken was undercooked and the broccoli rice was overcooked. The highlight of the evening was conversing with Mr. Eric. You could see him making his way throughout the place and trying to make everyone feel welcome and being accommodating. He might need to be the manager if he isn't already.

I love the food and the atmosphere!! A whole vibe with the DJ!! I love going for brunch on Sundays!! My favorite dish is the shrimp and grits!! The fried fish is amazing too!! And let’s not forget the mimosas!!

This place was recommended to me by someone from my Instagram. I stopped in before I went to the airport. I was visiting Houston for the weekend. I would definitely come back ! I went by myself. My server was so nice and attentive (the bartenders too). I had the red velvet chicken and waffles. I was not disappointed! ???? Eventually a DJ came in, but their music selection is good without the DJ too. I’d come back for sure ! ????
