I tried this place today after a long morning hike, and I finished a full plate of chicken waffles. It was so good! I would recommend ordering it for brunch or an early dinner. The boneless chicken thighs are so tender on the inside and so crispy on the outside. They’re served over 4 huge pieces of waffles. My bill was around $19, without ordering a drink or a starter. Shoutout to Zuri for being an awesome waitress. She was very nice and attentive to us.
I looked on Diners, Drive In's, & Dives website, and this place was a featured place in the Washington D.C. area. I wanted to give it a try just because of that alone. Parking isn't that easy to find, and you will most likely have to feed the meter outside. The staff is both friendly, and attentive. I arrived just as brunch was ending so I got to try their Shrimp, & Grits. You have the option to have the shrimp fried, or grilled. I chose grilled, and it was seasoned very well. It came with 10 shrimp which was plentiful. The Fried Catfish is also a good option to try. As for the sides, the Collard Greens are very good, and the Mac & Cheese was decent. The Rum Punch wasn't the best I ever had, but it was okay. Overall, this is a very good soul food spot.
Went to dinner with a friend. The place isn’t that big, but it was mainly empty so we got a table pretty quick. Our waitress was nice. I got the veggie plate with stuffing, greens, Mac and cheese, yellow rice with gravy, and cornbread. The only thing I enjoyed was the yellow rice and gravy and the Mac and cheese. The greens and the cornbread had entirely too much sugar. The stuffing…eh. My friend’s food, catfish and grist with a side of lemon pepper wings, was really good though. If I ever go back, I’m getting the catfish and sweet tea!
