Rushed over here, on suggestion of an acquaintance, here on work assignment, was my last day in town . Felt insecure about being underdressed, but was welcomed so warmly and respectfully that my mind was set right to ease. I sat at the bar and started with the #20 cocktail, Mezcal/citrus/maple notes, was balanced and so good I had another. Started with 6 half and half east west oysters on ice, so fresh and delicious I couldn’t help but order 6 more. Next was the Kale salad to start, it was dressed and seasoned very nicely and the fried green tomatoes it came with were crisp and delicious. While waiting for my entrée I was had a lovely chat with my bartender about my drink, he then suggested he make me something special, another mezcal based cocktail with a brilliant hit of rhubarb, it was charming and fantastic, and elevated the experience. Soon after, my spaghetti squash okonomiyaki made its way to me, it was a faithful yet original take on a Japanese street food staple, just some how
I went and had one of the best experiences ever! I sat at the bar and Shawn was my server! He explained the menu well and had great suggestions! His service was top tier and clearly he does this regularly because everyone was requesting him even patrons that he didn't service that day even came up just to speak with him on their way out! I told him he was a hot commodity there lol. The food was fantastic! I tried oysters for the first time and now I want more lol I also had the blue crab dip my goodness! Chefs kiss! The snapper was cooked to perfection and paired well with the black rice! Over all the experience was worth the money I spent and I think everyone should try it out! Kid-friendliness: They had really nice children options! My son had roasted fish bites and he smashed them. Granted they only have like 5 pieces but I bought appetizers so he was good ???????? Parking: It's street parking
We had a great meal here. Fresh sourdough bread and compound butter were excellent, bread from Union Loafers. Started with the oysters, little smaller than others have had but good flavors. Watermelon salad with tahini dressing was fantastic, lots of juicy watermelon. Entree was the flank steak with red pepper purée, steak was tender but wished it was seasoned better. Coconut pie dessert was amazing. Verdict is we would go back again.
