We were a party of four and everyone enjoyed eating here. We had never had Ethiopian food and the eating using thin flat bread was novel and fun. The spicy dishes can be pretty spicy but everyone enjoyed it all. If possible, come with a larger group and have it served family style so everyone can try some of everything. Feel like a small family run restaurant. We will be back.
Absolutely loved the Ethiopian cuisine. Has a striking similarity to South Indian cuisine. We each had a Sambussa ( more like a Samosa but with lentil filling ) and 2 Vegetarian combos for the 3 of us, and it was more than filling. The Ingeras are an healthier option since it’s made of Teff. The sides that were offered with the combo were pretty good. Customer service is excellent. Mudai Restaurant is a hidden gem in the downtown area of San Jose. The food is absolutely delicious and delightful, made with savory spices and always fresh. The spongy and malty bread called Injera compliments the food. The service is always great and served with a smile. We love this establishment and visit often. Try their Honey wine, it pairs well with any choice of entree you pick. Our favorite is the Veggie Combo, served family style. As a reminder of Ethiopian food, it is served without utensils so be prepared to eat with your hands/fingers. Parking is limited so be prepared for that too. Enjoy! Parking: Street parking only, best to park across the street of San Carlos.
