Mr Taco

This is a great, hole in the wall taco place with five 4-person tables (and two smaller tables as well) and late night hours (until 3am, and 4:30am on Friday and Saturday). There's a bathroom in case of emergency. The guys all know me, know my order (steak taco dinner with two tacos, not three), and make it exactly the same way every time. The green hot sauce is really good, and the carrots and jalapeños (Escabeche? Who in Cicero calls it that) are plentiful and also really, really good. The steak tacos start with a piece of steak, tossed on the grill and cooked fresh for you (not a bunch of dried out steak pieces that have been sitting on the grill for hours). It is not the finest cut of meat, but damn does it taste good when it's seasoned and grilled. The cheese is placed directly on the grill and the corn tortillas are placed on top of that. Then it's all put together for you on a plate with mexican rice and refried beans. Horchata, jamaica, some lime drink, some pineapple

I bought four tacos and two horchatas and it came out to $30, it’s too expensive and the tacos were not even that good. And also is only cash, and if you need to get cash they have an atm that charges $3 more that you have to spend

I never thought that I would be writing a negative review for Mr. Taco because I have been eating here for over 30 years. But the sticker shock of $17.75 for a #11 will now keep me away! This is a carry out / dine in counter service and this price is beyond reasonable! Nothing fancy, no waitress and no cocktails! Love Mr Taco but the price gouging is ridiculous! If you want return customers, Mr Taco, please take a look at your prices…….the $74 that I spent on 2 sodas and 4 - #11’s was way out line! Truly DISAPPOINTED!!!
