Moretti's Mchenry

I have yet to be disappointed by Moretti's. This McHenry location is right on the river and lots of fun. Good atmosphere for the family as well. Parking: Park across the street

Came here with expectations based on previous experiences at the Fox Lake location. There is plenty of seating inside and out, with views of the river. However, expectations were not met. Monday evening was not very busy with less than a dozen tables occupied. Our waiter was young but mostly attentive. An order of Italian beef and fries came out with cheddar cheese buried in the bottom of the sandwich. The broasted chicken was barely warm to the touch. When the server (not our waiter) brought the food, he knocked over a drink, threw a couple of napkins on top and walked away never offering a refill. The last plate came out and the server asked if it was a grilled or fried chicken sandwich (each in hand). It was neither, shrimp and fries was ordered. Several minutes later, just shrimp came out. Fun to dine outside here...great atmosphere with being right on the river, fun music but not too loud. Our server was friendly and attentive. Cheese curds were really good, as was the house sangria (but way overpriced). Chopped salads were a little lacking and boring. I ordered blackened chicken on mine but got grilled instead. NOT the server's fault - she wrote it down as blackened and even offered to take it back for me when she saw what I was served. Pricey place to dine for casual food. The one thing that really irked us was when we got the bill and saw at the bottom that there was a 3% surcharge. We were wondering what that was about and then we saw the fine print at the bottom of the bill saying "a 3% surcharge is added to all checks to offset increases in supply and packaging costs." It said you could ask the server to have this charge removed for dine-in. You'd better believe we weren't going to pay this extra charge! Sneaky way of upping the bill. I wonder how many patrons rea
