Monk's Burgers & More

Went there for a couple of appetizers and a drink. We ordered the “marinaded beef jerky” and the “pretzel bites” both apps were over $12 average price point but this beef jerky was terrible. Unedible. We offered pieces to both the patrons sitting next to us and they both had the same conclusion, cardboard. So after getting a terrible first app we got the pretzel knots. We paid $12 to get 7-8 pretzels doused in oil to the point the cheese dip wouldn’t even stick. Told the bar tender about the problems with the jerky she proceeded to tell me I know about how jerky is made. Pretty rude and condescending. Overall not a pleasant experience. Food very mediocre and service was very unprofessional. I hate to write bad reviews but this was just over the top bad service and appetizers were inedible and our server had no problem defending the chef and not asking us if we wanted a different option. Bad experience. Hope the owner sees this

Cute atmosphere and open space, the bar is the centerpiece of this place! Immediately felt “at home”. House Bloody Mary was great- not too fancy and not overdone. Just perfect. The sirloin jerky was awesome and you get a lot for the price. Ordered burgers - they were okay, little overdone. If they had been medium rare they would be have amazing. Sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and light! We will go back and see what else we can try! We didn’t order any of the shots- but loved the idea of showing these on the menu! Hey man- nice shot!

Hang outside on a beautiful day and enjoy the buzz of downtown La Grange or go inside to check out a game. Very friendly and efficient service and tasty food. I had a spiked milk shake and a burger flight and both were delicious.
