Me and my wife ate here for the first time on Wednesday for my birthday. Our waiter was exceptional and gave out great feedback on the food we asked him about. We started with the hot honey fried chicken deviled eggs and monkey bread, both were delicious. My only complaint about the monkey bread is some of the bread was tough, overall I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. We also had the strawberry orange juice which was delicious as well. For our meal we both went with peach cobbler french toast, it was very delicious and fulfilling. As with the monkey bread my only complaint is some parts of the French toast was tough. We both enjoyed our experience and will return again in the future.
I've been here so many times in the past but never wrote a review. Recently visited after a long hiatus and it was like finding a long lost friend. The banana chocolate pancakes were amazing. The shrimp and grits were superb. The monkey bread is an excellent group appetizer to share. I wouldn't recommend the shepherd's pie because it just doesn't have a very traditional feel.
This was my first visit to Miss Shirley's Cafe. It's a warm, casual, family-friendly place. I had their take on shrimp and grits. It was absolutely delicious. The shrimp, the grits, AND the fried green tomatoes. I've had fried green tomatoes before and thought I didn't like them. Turns out I do. I guess it just depends on who's making it. I also had a side of pancakes with blueberries. I haven't had pancakes like that since my grandmother passed. I would go there just for the pancakes alone! I also got the crab hash eggs benedict with a side of waffles to-go for my daughter. She said that even lukewarm it was delicious. She wants to know how they got the waffles so fluffy. The only downside is the parking. It's a narrow street that you have to park on and you have to pay. Doesn't matter. I'm definitely going back.
