Midwood Smokehouse

I went hunting online for a good BBQ place for dinner to put a nice end to a rainy day. Stopped in here and was quickly seated outside (enclosed and heated patio). My server, Matthew, had many excellent recommendations and was very attentive despite being swamped with tables. He gave me a detailed overview of all of their offerings, what made them special, and helped me pick something that included everything I wanted to try. I ordered the wings (smoked, original sauce), a side of brisket (4oz), and a side of Mac&Cheese. I considered the combo plate, but it's a ton of food for one person! The food arrived fairly quickly and everything was absolutely delicious! Out of all of the sauces (I had a sampler of all of them), the spicy habanero BBQ was my favorite - just enough of a kick to it. Not much of a mustard or vinegar base fan. This will absolutely be a regular stop on any future trips to Charlotte.

I’ve been to Midwood Smokehouse in Plaza Midwood many times. There’s always pretty great service. I really do love this place because it’s local. We have also gotten catering from them a few times as well. I do end up going on Sunday and Mondays and I feel like the food quality has gone down a little. I’m not sure if it’s a different staff on those days, but we will still go back. We really love the burnt ends and the ribs. Sadly, they didn’t have the beef ribs yesterday (Sunday) either. We also ordered a salad, but they forgot about it but we ended up getting it afterwards. Our server Ellen was lovely. She was very bubbly, personable and accommodating. Like I said, we will definitely go back. Will try to go on a different day next time!
