Meshi Ya

Great boba! I've been to like 3 different boba spots in Melbourne and today I was having a craving for it. My normal spot is closed down and the other places are a bit more expensive, so I decided to go on a whim and boy I do not regret it. The staff is friendly. They had my drinks ready in less than 5 mins. I'm very pleased. Just so anybody knows, this place is a walk up restaurant, so they do not have dine in.

Their food is very Japanese style from flavor to presentation. If you want to experience what foods are like in local JP raman and rice bowl restaurants, this is a good place to go. My favorite are popcorn chicken, raman, curry rice bowl, croquette.

Don't do it. Seriously, save your time and money. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen which came with bland broth, 2 paper thin slices of pork belly that were literally thinner than a potato chip. It also had 2 paper thin slices of fish cake that were smaller than a quarter, half an egg, some mushrooms and scallions, and literally .25c worth of dried bagged/boxed ramen. It was really awful. My husband got the seafood ramen for $16, which came with the same bland broth, boxed ramen, 2 very small skin on shrimp, 3 scallops the size of my pinky finger nail, and a small piece of fake crab. We got the vegetable croquette to share but which had no vegetables at all, it was just deep fried, overly greasy, mashed potatoes with panko breading. Lastly, we got the strawberry boba tea with tapioca, but they were out of the strawberry cream so it was basically just tea with tapioca.
