McGrath's Pub

I found myself needing a quick dinner. I ordered a seasonal meal of sausage and sauerkraut. It was fantastic. The beer selection was great, and the staff was helpful when I had a few questions.

If you want Irish pub food in Harrisburg, this place is probably your best bet. The food is tasty and generously portioned, and the menu samples heavily toward pub fare (fish and chips, bangers & mash, shepherd's pie) and Irish takes on bar food (Irish hush puppies have corned beef and cabbage in them, for example.) If you're hungry, get the short rib boxty- it's delicious.

We were passing through Harrisburg, and my husband is a big fan of Pubs, so we thought we would give McGrath's a try. We have pretty high expectations when it comes to Pub's and good food in general. This place did not disappoint! I ordered the duck and they just substituted more vegetables for Boxty, since I am gluten free. It was cooked to perfection, and one of the best duck dishes I have ever had. The pear chutney combination was amazing! My husband said the genuine shepherd's pie (lamb!) was extremely tasty, and a generous portion! The prices are VERY reasonable. We came on a Wednesday. It was quick service, and although the server said she was new, she did a wonderful job, and was very helpful! Would definitely recommend this place.
