Maro Wood Grill

We chose this place as a birthday dinner for a friend and we feel we have chosen incorrectly. Now I understand why when walking by the place the waiter or owner felt the need to come out and show us the restaurant and the menu. We had friends in the group come before and say the food was excellent here and they must have had an one off experience because the experience we had was absolutely terrible. We were one of their earliest groups there. Yes we were a large group of 10+ but honestly at that point there were no other tables. It took them OVER AN HOUR to get us our food. On top of that they missed an entree for one of our guest and everyone’s food was either cold or just lukewarm. If you’re gonna charge $45 for a skirt steak you better know how to cook it in a timely manner and not serve it cold. I feel bad leaving this review but my family and I love trying different food so we stopped at this spot to give it a try. First off the scene is very nice and welcoming. We sat outside and were excited to try the food. That unfortunately was the best part of the night. We ordered the empanadas (chicken and beef), they were average at best. The chicken was eatable but the beef tasted sour and we did not eat them all. Next we ordered 3 organic burgers 2 medium and 1 medium rare. $23 each and the $42 salmon. Immediately we returned the salmon to be recooked! It was completely raw and only seared on the outside. The burgers all were completely raw as well and the bread dry and crumbly. I told my 2 teens not to finish them because I did not want them to get sick. We left our uneaten burgers on the plates and asked for the check. Amazing experience. Food was top grade, fresh , organic with tons of flavor. Service was top notch. One of the best dinner spots in Laguna . Charming atmosphere , great music and couldn’t of had a better evening! Thank you ! Vegetarian options: Salads , grilled artichokes and veggies were grilled to perfection.
