Mac's Restaurant

I ordered the eggs florintine and it was incredible - somehow light yet full of flavor. Two of the hardest things to execute in my opinion for short order breakfast were especially impressive: poached eggs and holindaise sauce. Wow. Just blown away. And by the way the plate was room temp but the food was steaming within maybe three minutes of my order. I grew up in Chicago and as far as I can tell, this is the best "diner" in town.

This was a wonderful dining surprise. We went to visit on a whim and found an absolute gem of a place. The service was impeccable and the food was fresh, hot, and ready within minutes of our arrival. The wait time for a table was less than 5 minutes and from what I understand from the locals that is pretty much the standard. This is a CASH ONLY establishment so be prepared. If you do forget, there is an ATM right in the entrance that you can access for a $2.75 fee.

Hey, you can't miss at Mac's. In 1985, breakfasts were $2.00 for eggs, ham, hash browns and pancakes. Today, it's $8.95 and still a bargain. Same great food; same great service. If you haven't tried it - you owe it to yourself to do so.
