Amazing experience at Lumi! The food was spectacular. The Nazo 9 Box was a perfect special treat and each bite was like an explosion of flavors, each so unique and interesting. The quality of the fish was top notch, and the Peruvian & Asian sauces added an element of surprise and fun to each dish. We ordered two bartenders choice gin drinks and got two fun cocktails, each completely unique and in line with the preferences we mentioned. Service was also top notch! Sage took great care of us. He just started, but he had great knowledge of the dishes and gave us fantastic recommendations. I highly recommend this place, if you are looking for a great sushi place in the Gaslamp.

We just recently visited the restaurant. The experience was just ok but did not live up to the Akira Back standard. It seems at around 24h they pull the ability to make reservations via open table, which is fine, but if you do that then answer the phone! We tried multiple times to call and make reservations but got no answer. We decided to arrive and queue up for a table. Working with the hostess was a negotiation. Making it worse was she was so quiet it was hard to hear. We ultimately got a table after a few cryptic responses. We were sat at 5:30 and told we needed to leave by 8. Once we sat down the buss boy brought us still water and we ordered sparking water. (It took several reminders to the waitress and 40 minutes for it to ever arrive) There was only a QR code menu and no paper menu. The pdf linked was missing the plates/platters so we didn’t know about the box of 9 fish until we saw other people (who insisted on paper menus instead of this annoying QR experience) ordered it. I

This was my first time at Lumi and I’m allergic to seafood, so I can review all of the non-seafood items! We had bar seating, which was plenty roomy enough for two people ordering dinner. Don’t wait for a table necessarily, the bar staff are attentive and we weren’t lacking anything. I ordered the house slushy and which was tasty and not too sweet. We also tried the beef tartare, chicken karaage,miso soup and then ran out of stomach space. We used the last remaining room for a sake flight with the mochi dessert! We had fun trying to pair the sake with the different mochi ice cream flavors - it works out well! Would definitely come back; the kimchi fried rice is on my list. It’s a rooftop bar, so it was a little breezy once the sun went down. Staff all very helpful and it has an energetic and bit loud music vibe.
