Came to this place for some fish tacos and ended up hooked on the vibe and the Plato Maria. As far as the fish tacos are concerned, after having tried the best La Paz BCS has to offer, let’s put that quest to rest and wait until I make it back to Baja to enjoy them again.
Nice little local place. Good atmosphere. Nice straightforward menu, quick service. Service was about as friendly as you could hope for. We ordered the shrimp tacos, and the carne asada taco meal with a side of chips and guacamole. The chips are made in house and are traditional and thick. Guacamole was good, a little spicier than you might think, and chunky. You also have a mini sauce bar with pico, and a mild, medium, and hot sauce. One tiny complaint.. the cups for sauce are too tiny, especially for dipping (see reference photo ???? ) The shrimp tacos were pretty solid with the jalapeño mayo to tie it together. I would suggest getting a side of it for whatever you might order. The carne asada was a little dry, and the beans and rice were fine. All in all, decent. I’d stop by again if I had a craving for fish or shrimp tacos and I was in the area, but not necessarily a place that I would travel out for.
Lone Star Taqueria is fantastic. The people are great, the food even better. The only challenge is finding a place to park or sit as it does get crowded. Definitely worth eating here if you haven't already. Parking: Parking is very limited on site. After business hours you can park next door at the bank or kiddie corner from there by Wal-Greens.
