Le Colonial Lake Forest

My family and I were excited that Le Colonial was opening in Lake Forest (since we have been devoted fans of the Chicago location for years). Sadly, this new location has major shortcomings that need to be addressed. Food is just decent (nowhere near the city quality) and the customer service is downright terrible. Waited an obscenely long time for food-seriously, the wait was so long that the manager didn't believe us when we said our food had not arrived. We gave feedback graciously, but it was completely dismissed (by two separate people). We canceled a birthday dinner for 6 since we cannot trust the quality. Edit: bumping this down to one star after a disingenuous response from the restaurant (see below). I had to email them twice before getting a reply. Once again there was no apology or assurance that things would improve. Just an offer for another reservation. Kind of stunning. It's truly like basic customer service training is required here.

Le Colonial really shines in its immersive and cultural ambiance. The menu was fairly limited, expected since it has just opened, but the food was good. The service could have been better and the portions larger. The building itself and overall feel was something very unique.

The renovation and redecoration are absolutely beautiful. The tables are a little bit close together making it quite noisy. The food was excellent, however the portions are tiny given the prices. Overall an enjoyable experience mostly thanks to the attentive service.
