Best place in the city for Monterrey style burgers. They have a huge amount of combinations to choose from. There is few places where you can get a burger with Carne asada and this is the best. Check it out!

Delicious food and to top it all off Rosie, our cashier and server, was amazing! She greeted us, gave us time to look over the menu, and made sure all was well. Highly recommend La Chilera if you like spicy food. Update: I loved the food here so much I got take out a few days later. I don’t know what changed in the span of 5 days, but la regia burger wasn’t fresh and paled in comparison to la chilera. Worst of all, the “fries” I ordered were disgusting. They were gray, hard, and dry. Not even edible. I don’t know who was managing the kitchen or take out orders that day, but I’m pretty sure they stored the old fries and packed them for take-outs so customers don’t notice they’re days old when you get home. I’m truly saddened, I really liked this place. At least the cashier was still nice.

If you are in South Houston, there are places that have tastier and cheaper burgers/tacos. The pastor meat is not well seasoned and tastes bland. You can tell they add a lot of dye to make it look more authentic because it stains a lot, but the flavor is lacking. The burgers are mediocre and OVERPRICED. Fries do not come with the burger (all burgers are over 10$) and charge 3.50 per side. When we got the fries, I was shocked at how little fries they serve. For reference, my toddler could hold the entire length of the fries container with one hand. The place is pretty small and has little seating. I would say the best was the restrooms since they were pretty clean. Service was okay. The waitress never went back to ask us if we needed anything so I had to get up to ask for a spoon. I like the concept of this restaurant (it is themed for people from Monterrey) and I have been here a couple times since 2020. However, I can tell their quality is going down and prices are going up.
