The restaurant had beautiful murals on the wall and a wonderful atmosphere. Food was very good and the wait staff was nice. They seem to be understaffed at the moment so be prepared for what comes with that. The food still came out fast and the queso was the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend.

Nice servers. Ordered a chicken enchilada plate with no beans. Tasted bland. There wasn't anything spectacular about it.

I am a native New Mexican. It is hard for me to find good Mexican food in Alabama. La Paz is passable. During Covid we have very much appreciated their outdoor tables. The staff, with the exception of one unpleasant lady, is always friendly. The tamales are small but delicious and I appreciate that they offer vegetarian options. The chiles in the rellenos are way too mild, partially unpeeled, and the relleno is slathered in a forgettable cheese instead of green chile sauce. The rellenos are close to being delicious but not quite there. The enchiladas with green chile sauce have very little sauce and too much of that regrettable cheese. If you request extra sauce, you are ignored. If I could change one thing, it would be to offer green chile sauce with all plates. And sopaipillas are puffy breads served with dinner. Not a crisp cinnamon dessert.
