This establishment is managed poorly. The food is far from fresh, it is very understaffed, and I can do better at home. My gold standard for sushi in Denver has always been Sushi Den and Kobe An does not compare. If you know what Japanese food is supposed to be, this is not your place. (the kicker is that Kobe An charges as much as Sushi Den but does not deliver the same level of service and freshness) This is my first two star (negative) review — it’s not hard to please me and I don’t post negative reviews, but this restaurant’s performance was beyond the pale — and they only get the second star because the staff did the best they could under circumstances out of their control.
We went to this place on a Saturday night when half of the tables were seated. We had to wait for an hour until our first entree dish was served. Food quality and taste were both below average. Definitely not worth the price. Atmosphere is very cool. We paid 5 dollar extra to sit in the semi private cube which our two daughters loved.
We had a good experience here for my daughter's birthday. We reserved one of the tatami tea rooms, and it was a fun experience. Her and I split the shabu shabu and it was plenty for both of us to enjoy. It was pretty bland, but the quality was good. My husband and other daughter each got ramen, which were also very large, but not as tasty as other authentic ramen we have had. Overall a good experience, but probably just a one time thing.
