First time at Jack Brown's. Was not impressed. I understand only having burgers. I like a hunk of meat on a nice bun as well as the next person, but to not have lettuce, tomatoes, onions is just sacrilege. The fries were good. Did not try the beer. If you're looking for cozy and comfortable, this is not it. The waiters were congenial. Not a place I need to try again.
If you want that hipster 3 speed feel, beanie cap on a 90 degree day and some salty local sailors, this is your place. They also serve one of the most amazing burgers I've had in a long time. Stopped in here on Sunday as we were in town (from MD) for a concert at the pavilion across the river. Busy but worth the wait!
Staff was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices weren’t too bad for downtown Norfolk. The burgers aren’t very big so definitely get the fries. Try their house-made aioli sauce to dip your fries in, it’s delicious. I had the Greg Brady which has Mac & Cheese on it and it was awesome. This is a bar, definitely not a place to bring kids. Space and seating is limited so this place is better for small groups of 2-4. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, it’s a bar.
