Just touched down in Akron for some meetings and I was starving. I wasn’t expecting this adorable spot but it was one of the few black owned spots opened around 6 on a Sunday. Parking was simple. The restaurant wasn’t too busy. They were out of shrimp so I went full veggie. I enjoyed every part of my meal even with the veggie mix over the top. Very delish and filling. It wasn’t a back price at about $11 with tax. I would definitely return again if I’m in the area. I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you in advance.
All your pics online shows cabbage to the brim. Today was the first time I got such a small serving. Please don't skimp on my sides. My son & I dislike plantains so I always ask for double cabbage (and add onions toppings). I was literally able to scoop one side onto the other side & that was 1 serving. I eat here a couple times a month & usually enjoy it. The cabbage could use a tad bit less salt. I've never sat down here to eat, but I like the vibe of the place. My meal was gone in 10 minutes.
My mom loves the small Irie in Cleveland so when we discovered a sit-down restaurant Irie we just had to make the trip to Akron and check it out. The food was definitely worth the drive and I'm saying this as gas prices are high!!! Everything we had was delicious and unique, but I especially loved the curry chicken, meat pies, and macaroni!!! Mom raved over her plantains, cabbage and cornbread. I prefer spicy flavors and she likes mild and they were able to accommodate both our palates. It was a beautiful day and they have a nice outdoor patio to sit and enjoy the flavors, but it was hard to resist the adorable island decor inside. This place feels like it is the creation of love and passion. Shout out to the welcoming and helpful staff. Can't wait to come back.
