IHOP

Summer 2023 review: The restaurant is severely understaffed. Because of that, they can't stay open 24 hours. the overnight, so they are not open 24 hours. A server explained this to me. My breakfast had everything: pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage.  It was way too much food for me! The time I was there it was also all you could eat pancakes, which applied here. My pancakes were perfect IHOP pancakes--soft and fluffy. My French toast was huge--bigger than Texas toast! The bacon and sausages were cooked well. The bacon was firm. And the sausages were links, not patties. The fruit lemonade I ordered (can't recall the flavor) had fruit syrupy juice at the bottom.  I don't know if it was on purpose or a mistake--but my refill was the same. I mixed it, and it tasted ok.

There just seems to be a disconnect or a lack of customer service urgency here. I understand being short staff but you can almost feel the staff is a bit defeated. The service was slow on all levels. The food was fine (we did find a hair in the patty melt) but due to just the overall vibe of the restaurant dragged the entire experience down.

IHOP is a reasonably inexpensive place to go for breakfast....except for the coffee. That has gotten expensive for the quality. We go off hours, meaning between normal mealtime as the restaurant is not crowded. The food is fresher as opposed to sitting under a heat lamp all morning. The young (compared to me) waitress, while trying to be friendly with us, kept calling us "loves" or "dearest " or "sweetie." It was a little too much familiarity for us, but she did her job well and was well tipped for it. We also didn't bother to say anything because we didn't want to discourage her from it with other customers who may like it.
