It's a Thursday so the place was pretty empty. We arrived and all seemed well. We were seated to the side of the center. We are a group of 3, one of us was in the middle with two on the side. It's our anniversary and the first time taking our 8 year old daughter. My daughter and I left to the restroom and when we returned we had been moved to the far side. We were facing the back of the chef, even past. My husband and i have never been to an Ichiban set up this way. For 55 dollars a plate plus drinks it just didn't seem ideal. To add to it, the folks that were seated in the middle had already started demanding things and were a total vibe kill. We left before drinks... sad to say. Just not worth a bad experience for the money.
Took my wife here for dinner for the first time since moving to Reno. My wife and I were regulars at out favorite Japanese Steakhouse back in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I have to say with all the buzz and the prices I thought it would be much better. The service was ok but not great and the Chef was very boring and not very interactive like I’m used to and felt like he was rushing to get done and get us out for the next group. The food is what I was disappointed in the most, very bland with not much flavor. The fried rice was just ok, not great and the vegetables were barely cooked, very raw like. There were 8 other people at the table and I saw a lot of food that didn’t get eaten. I felt the cucumber salad and the ice cream was the best part and the miso soup was horrible. Make your own opinion and give it a shot, but we definitely won’t be back.
Wonderful fun, amazing food, FYI, if you do not like seating with strangers this isn't for you. Go with a big group or alone, enjoy company and have fun.
