Hunan Wok

I have moved to Midlothian in the past year and have gotten takeout 2 times. In both orders the sauce has been a sickening sweet bbq type sauce each time. No matter what was ordered. The spring rolls are lovely, light and delicious. This last order I ordered the fried instead of the white rice. I put it on the plate along side the chicken entree and took one bite of the rice. The oil that was used to stir fry was old, maybe ransid. I had to throw it out. I won't be returning unless I hear that there are new staff in the kitchen. Thank you.

What happened to this place? In the past I would have given Hunan Wok 5 stars, but not last night. They are a bit far from our house, so it had been about a year since we had gone there. In the past, they could always be depended on for exceptional food. Łast night we ordered a couple of spicy chicken dishes and requested that they be made extra spicy. We also requested a couple of orders of Hot and Sour Soup. The chicken in both orders was extremely overcooked (to the point of being leathery) and neither of the chicken dishes were spicy, much less extra spicy. The soup also wasn't spicy. They were so mild that I ended out tasting some of the pre-packaged hot sauce just to make sure that I hadn't lost my sense of taste. (That was hot.) Somehow, in the past year the restaurant went from being an exception Chinese restaurant to being a mediocre one. I'm not sure if they changed owners or it was a very off night.

Ordered three orders of Won Ton soup for takeout. Waited approximately 30 minutes, got home, and it tasted like the majority of the soup was hot water with some won tons thrown in it. Had to throw it away. Do not recommend this restaurant.
