Hickory Tavern

Visited on a Saturday evening. Place was very busy. Seemed like a lot of kids baseball groups celebrating. Was told it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. Since we love the food here we decided to wait. After about 10 minutes we were told the patio was open and we could get sitted now and server would be right with us. Patio was in the shade and ceiling fans were on. Temperature was comfortable. Ordered drinks and appetizer. Received quickly. Dinner order followed at the right time. Since our server heard us talking that it was my nephews birthday. She threw in a brownie and ice cream big enough for the 3 of us. Good evening had by all.

I use to love this place. The last few times I have order have been terrible. Cold food and poor portions. I live 5 minutes from the place and the food was handed directly to me. The burger was room temperature and the 15 or so sweet potato fries,which I paid $2 extra for, were soggy. Can’t recommend this place, at least not for takeout.

Service was awful. Even though it wasn't busy on a Saturday, the food took over an hour to show up. Waitress ignored our large group most of the time except after we had food. I ordered the Belgium Waffle and was greatly disappointed. For starters, it didn't come with syrup or bacon that was mentioned on the menu. When I inquired, they got me 2 overcooked slices of bacon and a cup of syrup. The waffle was absolutely disgusting. The mixture wasn't mixed all the way through, so I kept getting crunchy clumps of sugar. The split 1 strawberry between the two small waffles. $11 for this garbage. The menu is really overpriced for what you get. I will never come back to this establishment.
