I have been coming here for years. It is the closest to my mom's cooking. It is real Cuban food, not that Cuban fusion stuff. I love the way they are consistent with the flavor and the service. I definitely recommend it.
What a great place! I love the vibe here and the pictures of the malecón in Havana. It's definitely not the same Cuban food you'd get in Miami, but it hits the spot if you're missing home. I'm new to California and moved here after living in Miami my entire life. There were some things that didn't quite feel like home (the rice wasn't sticky enough and the filete de pollo was super thin) but it was still very good! The black beans were phenomenal and the maduros we're slightly overcooked, but I love them that way. My Cuban partner likes them mushy. In short, if you love Cuban food, you'll enjoy this spot because they try really hard to capture the flavors. The onions on the filet de pollo were not picado like they usually are in Miami and it was a little sweet, but I still ate it all. I took away a star because I've honestly never been to a Cuban restaurant that doesn't give you Cuban bread while you wait. I was craving Cuban bread and I was really disappointed to know that they didn't
Authentic Cuban spot with on point mojitos. Came here on a Tuesday around 7:30pm and had no reservations but got seated immediately. Indoor dining only (no outdoor spots available). There’s bar seating as well. Credit cards accepted. Ample parking in the parking lot. They do have happy hour on the weekdays. The employees were all friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The El Criollo is good for two people to split and does come with rice, plantains, and black beans. The meats come separately on one platter. The overall environment is family-friendly and casual.
