Small cozy place with good fresh food and friendly service. The croquetas and the croqueta preparada sandwich along with the Cuban sandwich is very good the cafe con leche was excellent very foamy and without an excess of sugar. Everything was spot on with the spices and no excess salt. I have to return to try the triplets and Venezuelan empanadas. Their desert list is more extensive than the usual Cuban cafeteria and their pastries look very fresh and appetizing.
I ordered a pan con Bistec from this restaurant a couple years ago and it was amazing. Was in the area, so I decided to stop by. I Ordered a Pan Con Bistec, and the pictures show what I got. Can you even call that a pan con bistec? I have never seen it made this lazy. This cost me 12 dollars plus a service fee! Needless to say, I won’t be returning to this restaurant again.
It had been awhile since this midwestern gringa had enjoyed authentic Cuban food. I grew up with Cubans in NJ and Miami, and I lived with an excellent Cuban cook. So I had some difficulty ordering. Place isn't fancy, but I put that in the plus column. I've had great food in " hole in the wall" joints: More focus on food and less on decor. For starters, the plantanos were excellent. Perfectly fried and not too greasy. We ordered the empanadas for the table, chicken and beef. Again, excellent. I'm a big sangria fan, so we got a pitcher for the table. It was tart not sweet. Seems like no two sangrias are the same. I wouldn't order it again, but you might like it more tart. Fruit seemed like it was from a can. Oh, well. Main entrées: I tried the arroz con pollo. Very tasty and nicely plated. I order the picadillo, a childhood favorite. I gotta be honest: This gringa makes it better. I learned the recipe from my friend the cook. She put capers and green olives in hers. This was just groun
