Hacienda Real

It was ok not the best. The music for their party atmosphere was to loud. It was difficult to carry on a conversation. I had 2 pescado Baja tacos and 1 chorizo taco. Both were kind of bland not a lot of taste. I really liked the salsa that comes with the chips! Not all bad.

I have to say this is probably more of a mediocre Mexican style restaurant that I have been to in the area. The restaurant, inside and out, were well done and updated. What bothered me was the food and the service. For the prices, some plates that my table had gotten were small and didn't have much flavor to them. One member of my table also didn't get part of their meal right away. We were also ignored a bit while the larger party (who kept ordering drinks) got anything and everything they asked for right away. My meal wasn't too bad, but the fajita part of it soaked through the taco bowl, making it almost inedible. So I was a bit disappointed. Overall, not a terrible place, but I would try something else in the area first.

Knowing that the owners of El Jefe, a restaurant that I've dined at many times and have always had a good experience at, owned this restaurant, I went into this with a level of expectation. I am pleased to say that Hacienda Real has exceeded that expectation. Immediately evident was the service, which was some of the quickest and polished service I've experienced at a restaurant in a while. The atmosphere felt exotic, and for a moment I honestly forgot I was in Yorkville. But what took the cake for me was the food. I ordered the Molcajete, and while very spicy, it was tasty and had many layers and flavors to it. My party was similarly enthused with their meals as well. The guacamole trio appetizer was eclectic and full of diffrent tastes, all of which were delectable. Overall, I had a great experience here and will definitely be back for more.
