Greek Taverna

Delicious little Family-owned and operated Greek restaurant. My wife and I a started with 2 crisp Mythos lagers and Saganaki that flamed quite high torching the edges. Next came the Greek Country Salad for my wife and the white bean soup for me. The salad was fresh with plenty of feta and a well-balanced vinaigrette. My white bean soup was one of the best I’ve ever had, which is saying a lot. I usually have to add a decent amount of black pepper, but the flavor of The Greek Taverna’s soup was spot on with a nice amount of pepper and herbs. For our entrees, my wife opted for the Lahano Dolmades with Cream Lemon Sauce, which are essentially Greek cabbage rolls, while I ordered the Lamb Shank. The Dolmades were phenomenal. We finished every bite and every bit of the sauce. I know you don’t know me, but trust me and order these. As for the Lamb Shank, is was fall-off-the-bone tender and cooked in a mild marinara that was delicious without overpowering the distinct lamb flavor. Both dishes

My husband is Greek so we always look for the Greek restaurants. We were visiting from Ohio and found this little place. We loved it. My husband said it’s the best meal he’s had in Sarasota. They have all of the traditional home-style Greek dishes he loves. He had the Plaki (fish) and I had the Dolmades (like grape leaves, only made with cabbage leaves.) They even had non-alcoholic beer for me, which is a rare find at a small restaurant like this. Opah!

The food is always good . We do mostly takeout, so don’t know how service is except the gentleman is very nice when we pick up and pay.
