The moment you walk in, you know you have found a special place! Cheryl, the bartender (I hope I got her name right!) was outstanding in making my wife and I feel welcomed at this local spot. She was very helpful in recommending Glass Lounge specialities (steak!) and served great drinks! Moments later we were escorted to our table (there was a line of people waiting to get in…but as we were just 2 it was only a 10 minute wait on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. Bill was our server - and again - another very personable, welcoming and helpful individual - despite the fact that he was very busy! We both had the Saturday special menu items ( 6 oz tenderloin and I had it with shrimp and my wife had the crab cake). The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My wife raved about the crab cake (heavy on crab meat and very little stuffing, as it should be!). I made out a point to speak to the owner on our way out to tell her how pleased we were with the food and service.
This was our first visit, and we enjoyed ourselves. "Tavern" for central Pennsylvania is the best way to describe it for locals. It is a casual bar that apparently does a good food business. Long time employees work there and are pleasant. Promoted as a "Steak House" it has advantages compared to your typical "steak house" corporate restaurant. I ordered two entrees Filet Mignon & Lobster and Sea Scallops, my wife ordered the 24 ounce Super Sirloin. Steak was prepared adequately. Prices for quantity of food seemed generous. As one typically will not have an option for a 24 ounce sirloin in any of the local chain's. They do have a few quirky things like their "salad". It basically is a bed of lettuce and a couple pounds of shredded carrots. I did find a piece of green pepper in mine, but hardly an item to brag about. Every other steak house within 30 miles, would have a better salad. My baked potato was cold and undercooked, I figured I would take it home and cook it some more. Another
This place has been around for decades and known for its steak. We arrived around 6 pm on a Saturday. We waited for about 15 minutes.. Some groups came in after us and had reservations. Out server was super efficient and friendly. We ordered onion petals as our appetizer. Two of us ordered 6 oz tenderloins with baked potatoes and side salads. Their salads are quite large compared to other restaurants. Someone also ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. All were very good. Parking: The lot is a stone lot. There are a few space in front but the big lot is behind the building. Wheelchair accessibility: Access the restaurant using the deck.
