Gale Street Inn - Diamond Lake, Mundelein

Have been back a few times since this review. New owners a couple years ago. Menu and quality of food fantastic. They went from supper club to a relatively high end restaurant. Steaks, chops, seafood great. Comfortable spot and great bar friendly bartenders. The prime rib and king crab legs excellent. Combo to. Salad and windowed dining room make for a great comfort food dinner.

What a special place Gale Street is - you might even feel like you're on vacation as you gaze out at Diamond Lake. The service is truly old-school in the best sense of the word. The food is locally sourced, non-GMO, and made from scratch. Also noteworthy is knowledgeable and genuinely warm server Mario. He, and the other employees we encountered, enhanced the top notch food. And when you get a "house salad" here with your meal, it is not just a couple of lettuce leaves and an anemic tomato - oh no, you get gorgeous greens, variety of colors of cherry tomatoes, olives, banana peppers all dressed in their house balsamic or whatever you prefer. Unique "sweet" bread on table, ribs to write home about and superior quality steaks. Please support local gems like these - it will be a win win! And say hi to Mario!

We came for Father's Day and had an incredible experience. My husband grew up on the ribs at Gale Street in Chicago so we came specifically for the those and he was absolutely blown away. The food, portions, drinks, service, lake view and atmosphere were all top notch. We can't wait to go back, this place is a gem!
