Gabe's Downtown

Did a take-out order for a celebration, and spent $118. My husband, and I have been coming here since 2015, and today marks our last visit. We received “the worst” customer service from manager Payton. As I placed the order, I had specific requests as well as asked specific questions. I had ordered : 2 entrees of Seafood Etoufee - I specifically asked Payton to make sure the soup containers were actually filled because we’ve had to call, and complain a few times after receiving half full containers. Payton assured me that although it may not be completely full it won’t be far off. When our food came out it was half filled. In a very nonchalant manner, she said the chef of the night confirmed this is the correct portion. Also, the website has this item listed for $28, but we paid $31 24hr Brined Wings. Great Place With Great Food but Outdoor Dining Needs a Little Work. My wife and I really like Gabe's. We go there periodically for dinner. We also like to eat upstairs on their outdoor balcony. It has improved greatly since we were there last. They've installed a roof over it which helps to keep the sun off of diners and makes it a little bit cooler. This is a really great improvement. However, in the evening it is a little dark up there. They need to install more lighting overhead in the roof. Ceiling fans would also be a nice touch. That said we had a lovely evening at Gabe's. Pros: - Great Cajun and Creole cuisine! I'm from the New Orleans area and the food here is authentic. - Great atmosphere. I love dining on their outdoor deck especially with the new roof. Keep the improvements coming! - Great staff! We had a really great waiter and the rest of the staff were also terrific! A culinary gem of Douglasville. Delicious food, great service and beautiful presentation of all dishes. We hosted my son’s graduation luncheon here in 2019 for about 50 guests. Everything went very well & the food was a hit. They have since covered the outdoor patio upstairs. Love it!
