Was just randomly looking for a Mexican place for lunch, saw this place had good reviews and decided to stop in, and I’m so glad I did! The food is absolutely amazing and is owned and operated by the nicest young man. We sat inside and ate burritos and tacos and enjoyed all of it. The sauces and chips and salsa are on point! Definitely give this place a try if you’re ever in the area!
The burritos are AMAZING! Despite being full I couldn't stop myself from having another bite because it was so delicious. The cook was also very courteous.
Original Review: This is Knoxville's one solid claim to real deal mexican (not texmex). I say this as New Mexico native and recovering Californian, who works primarily in Latin America. Fuego has presentation, flavor and service beyond that of Chivo for a fraction of the price, with a fraction of the wait, and none of the pretension. I will be giving them lots of money in the coming months. Follow up (8/23/2022): This place has serious service issues. Limited menu routinely out of entire proteins, seemingly high turnover of college kid employees who can't manage basic hospitality tasks without undue effort and time, same ugly mismatched plastic and folding chairs inside for months, looooong wait times on orders. Hoping the proprietor pulls up all the slack sometime soon. The food is good, but everything else is chronically lacking.
