Frigate's Waterfront Bar & Grill - Melbourne

Excellent fish. They have some incredible views of the water front, terraced seating with plenty of shade. The entrees offered variety of flavors and fresh fish.

Our experience here was sub par. Granted a storm came through and caused sort of a scramble as the staff to repeat many parties. Our waitress was all over the place the whole time. Very inefficient as she would make multiple trips to the same area where she could have had what she needed for all tables. The appetizers were pretty good. My wife's Cesar salad was super bland it just tasted like chewing on leaves. The lobster bisque was tasty but no real chunks just sort of gritty. Old fashioned I got was awful. My grouper sandwich came out with totally soggy buns I had to get replaced. And the sandwich and fries were just incredibly bland there was almost no flavor. I had the same meal a week or two before and it was a totally different experience. I would like to chalk it up as a bad day but it just missed on so many aspects. It's a shame because it's a great location

The outdoor space here is huge and you get a beautiful view of the water from pretty much any seat. The food is very good and nice portions - we had the fish tacos, spicy tuna roll and the spicy tuna bowl. Service was very slow, and took about 15 minutes for anyone to come over and take drink orders after we had been seated; we had to ask our waiter for drink refills as well. Part of the upper outdoor patio is dog friendly, which is nice.
