So, we love Friendly's, literally everytime we go to Orlando we go there. We were there recently and there was a pending Hurricane, as a native Floridian, I know when to panic and when not to panic. This was definitely a not to panic one but I digress.... I talked with a few friends earlier in the day stating that if Friendly's closed early I'd be upset but would understand. So, anyway we get there, and it's pretty dead but they were open, although the person who seated us (I'm assuming the manager) was quite rude. Basically stating there was a.curfew and everyone one should have been in place by 5PM....(it was about 7PM). Pretty sure he thought we were tourists and didn't know any better... Nice try but no. Anyway, the waitress was pleasant, the food great and service was very quick. As we were just about finished I guess Friendly's got the call to close early (about 8PM) so there was one other table there and the "manager" asked them if they wanted ice cream and they were a little in
I am from upstate NY and haven't seen a Friendly's in years. Upon my visit to Orlando, my colleague (from Buffalo) insisted we go check it out. Nostalgia was worth eating so much greasy food and delicious ice cream that we fell into a coma. I missed it, and having that reminder of youth was priceless.
Friendly's is a taste from the past for me I'm originally from New York Long Island and friendly's was like the ny Denny's but better. The ice cream is always amazing and a good quality the food was really good I got the turkey sandwich it was great the only thing is that there was a slight musty smell in the restaurant and I wasn't the only customer complaining about it I could hear the whispers and the carpet definitely needs a good cleaning I would suggest them closing it for 24 hours or something like that and doing a good deep clean and I think that restaurant will do great.
