Fox & Turtle

Dined here last night for the first and last time. I was disappointed to discover that the restaurant is really in a basement of the country club. Opening the door to a set of cement stairs leading into a dark, windowless room is not inviting at all. I looked at their website and the photos did not show this. The view of the golf course is nice, but it would have been much nicer from the upstairs level. There was only one other table seated inside when we arrived. The food was tasty, which is why I am giving a second star in my rating. The server was nice, but needs more experience. The prices are so high for what they offer it is laughable. $36 for a "whole chicken" which turned out to be a cornish game hen in reality. I was not pleased because I was expecting an actual chicken. My aunt ordered a sandwich that came with cold fries. We have dined here in the past. This is a private country club beautiful place for golfing, the restaurant is open to the public. we stopped for a burger & beer very tasty, was a bit surprised by their new menu prices. a bit pricey???? sat outside enjoyed the beautiful view of the golf course beautiful atmosphere our favorite beer, church street beer from a local brewery .

I popped in for lunch on my way to Springfield coming from Milwaukee. I'm not usually the kind of a guy to check out a restaurant at a golf course country club, but they had an Untappd local badge and it was a dreary Monday, so I decided to give it a go. They had an interesting menu, but I wanted to keep things light, as I was on my way to a punk show. The spinach and cheese empanadas were pretty good and filling and I thought their beer selection was impressive.
