What a disappointment today. Usually, my mom & I really like this location. Maybe they have a new chef who's learning the recipes. Today, the key lime pie, usually deliciously tart, was bland. Like it was made with mayonnaise and the lemon forgotten. Such a disappointment, especially at $8 for a tiny slice! My egg salad was almost too salty to eat - adding a lot of mustard helped - and my mom's grilled cheese & fries were lukewarm. Not at all worth the over $40 price tag today. Hopefully, taking this leftover pie home, to make a smoothie with banana, lemon, lime, & and strawberry will salvage it. We hate to waste food. Vegetarian options: They have more vegetarian options than some places.
Great food and great atmosphere!! Too bad the counter girl was really rude! Our coffee mugs were dirty and we asked if we could get new ones and with a huff she took the dirty ones and gave us new ones half way full!? We asked why, and she said refills can be done at the self serve station. This wasn’t a refill it was the first cup! We didn’t let her ruin our morning so we walked away.
The staff seemed kind of down - I don't think I saw a single smile the whole time I was in line or being served. I came to grab a small savory snack during my bike ride, only to find that flying star has discontinued soups of the day, so I could not get the cup of soup that I'd been craving for the last couple miles - the alternative option was a big, loaded bowl of caldo (double the food and double the price of the wee cup I wanted). I ended up ordering a grilled cheese (a poor substitute for a cup of soup) with a side salad. The grilled cheese is okay (just a lot greasier than I was craving) but the side salad (full of gross discolored and wilted leaves) came loaded with several very strongly flavored Kalamata olives. I've never heard of olives on a side salad and so didn't ask for a salad without them - my nasty mistake - they totally ruined the salad. Some dressing might have covered the flavor after I picked all of the olives off, but sadly, the salad was dry. What a disappointing
