Last night we went to the new UES Flex Mussels. Such a delightful evening. From the host seating us immediately to our waiter who was knowledgeable and even told us his favorite dishes. 1st the oysters, were so fresh and clean and truly mouth watering. Then my two friends ordered the mussels and they couldn’t have raved more about them. I’m not a fan of mussels but I did enjoy dipping my bread into each of their pots and each broth/sauce tasted better than the other. I ordered the salmon and it could have possibly been the best I’ve ever eaten. The salmon was cooked perfectly and it was sitting on top of wonderful veggies, not to mention the skin which was so crispy and amazing. Other times I’ve had their chicken which is hands down the best juiciest chicken with crispy skin. Of course the desert was a given…the fabulous homemade donuts filled with each of our choices with dipping sauce on the side. The employees genuinely seemed happy to be working at Flex, which is a very good sign.
First I loved the mini oyster menu which had a good range of fresh east coast and west coast oysters . The mussels were cooked to perfection . It came in a huge pot at first I was overwhelmed but I finished it all… then the donuts were so good and you had so many filling options to pick from.
Very nice restaurant..we chose to sit inside because it was cooler than outside. Our server was friendly but kept forgetting things. She offered us bread but never brought it. The table next to us got two servings before we got one. My BF had to wait extra long for his drink to come. The mussels were ok. Not as tasty as we have had. French fries are excellent..grilled oysters and burnt end calamari and shrimp were also outstanding. We got six doughnuts to go, three different flavors. They brought us a box in bag and thanked us for coming. I opened to check and there were only 4. We told the waitress she said she would take care of it. A young man came back, apologized and said for our troubles he gave us two extra doughnuts. He didn't. There were only two in the extra box he brought that we paid for.
