my favorite chicken and lamb over rice in albany, and I've been trying quite a few joints this month since they've been closed for Ramadan. The fact that I've thought about this place at least once a week the entire month of april convinced me I probably like this place a lot.
Offering perhaps the best gyro in Albany, Express Chicken & Gyro can also proudly boast having the only fries in Cap City that are delivered hot and crispy. This place will not disappoint. Along with the gyro, without a doubt the best thing on the menu is the chicken over rice (also comes in lamb and lamb/chicken meat options)…a full meal, not doubt, of perfectly spiced meat and perfectly cooked rice and a nice salad all covered with the perfect amount of tzatziki.
When you order a gyro you are really just getting bread and lettuce. There is one mini strip of meat in there smaller than a slice of bacon. They may have good food but the gyros ain’t it.
