Emerald Garden Restaurant

We had a bad experience and are trying to resolve it directly with the restaurant but because they won’t respond to us in person or on the phone… We placed an order for delivery and we’re told it would be there in 40 minutes. After more than an hour we called to check on the ETA and we’re told the driver would be right there. At an hour twenty - still no delivery so we called again and we’re again told that the driver would be right there. 10 minutes later we tried calling back and there was no answer. Tried several times - nobody would answer the phone. We gave up - ordered, and went and picked up Mexican food. Almost 2 hours later to the minute, the delivery driver for Emerald Garden came to our door. I explained it had been 2 hours and that we’d gotten other food. I asked what he would’ve done? He said he got stuck in traffic and had to make another delivery and walked off immediately. We live 5 minutes from the restaurant - with bad traffic 8 minutes. Had they told us on the phone

Readers take note that all the good ratings for this place were from a couple years ago. It used to be great and we have been eating there for 35 years, but it recently has become terrible. The last two times we ordered, the food took more than an hour and was cold when delivered. The first time we waited 90 minutes. The second time the food had been spilled and was all covered in greasy juice that we had to clean up just to eat our meal. We ordered online and after they charged my card, called to tell me they didn't have one of the items, and insisted I order items that cost as much as the one they cancelled, then changed my order to a more expensive item so they would not have to refund anything. When I called back to discuss it, he repeatedly yelled at me that the item was more expensive as if that made it ok. He could have made a loyal customer happy, but instead earned a bad review.

The food is good, middle of the road spices. The service was sub par. They seem to be more geared for take out instead of seated guests. I had to get up and go ask for chop sticks and water twice. We were served on childrens print plates which I'll post a picture. Our food was slung onto the table because the guys phone was ringing. They need a server/hostess to cover tge dining area. I tipped 19% and my dinner guest thought that was too much.
