Very clean, very nice decor. Staff is friendly and polite and the food was absolutely amazing. True Mexican restaurant. We will continue to make the 20 mile drive to eat here because it is so worth it.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, close to where we were staying. Sign at the door read "we are short staffed". Margaritas were good and reasonably priced.. we ordered the Top Shelf Guacamole, and the description said it would be made at the table. Instead, it was made in the kitchen and they put too much salt in it. Way too much salt... like the amount of salt you would use to kill a leach. Unable to eat it and very disappointed, we sent it back. They offered to make another, but we declined on principal that anyone should know better.. We ordered a shrimp dish and a fajita dish, which were both good but had mostly onions and not much for peppers and jalapenos. The guac that garnished the fajita dish was remarkably good! After 3 Mexican restaurants over 3 days, between Leesburg and Sanford, this was our least favorite but I will still give it 3 stars because of the great Margs!
I’ve been wanting to try El Sol for a couple years, constantly driving past it. The exterior always seemed lackluster and a bit dull, so I never went out of my way to go. Well, I finally tried it and it was just ok. It’s what I call an American-Mexican spot. It’s not authentic Mexican cuisine, and that’s ok. The food and service was just ok but the interior was a pleasant surprise. The first thing I noticed was the bar. It was pretty large and had that nice blue-light strip going on. The décor was much lively that I thought it would be. The complementary chips and salsa was a bit disappointing. The chips were ok but the salsa was not spicy and very watery. I ordered the lunch special #6; Cheese quesadilla, enchilada with shredded beef, and guacamole salad. The quesadilla was very simple and plain. The enchilada was better than I thought it would be. I liked the tender shredded beef that was reminiscent of the Cuban “ropa vieja”. The Strawberry Mojito was good. Overall, the food w
