El Nopal Mexican Cuisine

I was first introduced to El Nopal when a group of out of town contractors needed a quick reasonable lunch. It quickly became a weekly favorite with it's lunch favorites like the Speedy Gonzales. That was over twenty years ago and much has changed. The family moved to Louisville and El Nopal has become a hometown institution for Mexican cuisine. Success hasn't gone to their head. The food is still great with quick friendly service. What has changed is I am now retired and able to kickback and enjoy whenever.

Been going here for yrs, but it's really gone downhill lately in terms of service and quality of food. The service in particular was the last straw. The place was less than 50% capacity so not busy. It took 15 minutes to order drinks and a cheese dip. Nearly 10 minutes later the drinks come with the cheese dip....without any chips or salsa. Another 5 minutes goes by and finally the chips arrive now that the cheese dip was cold. Another 10 minutes go by without seeing our waitress again she drops the silverware &napkins off quickly without taking our order. More waiting.....finally she returns without her pad when we ask to put in an order and has to get it. We order, and wait,and wait,and wait for 20 more minutes. We ask twice about our food and are assured it's almost ready. When we finally get our food it's stone cold because it sat so long in the back. The whole time the waitress had tended to a birthday song and the rest of the time was MIA. We mentioned the cold food and the wait.

Food and drinks good but my server really sucked!! We had to find him so we can order. Then he never came back to check on us after we received our food. We had to find him again to get some napkins and our check. If I go back to this establishment I definitely do not want him and I will ask for another server.. better yet, I will go to the Blankenbaker location.- service is much better..
