El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

A friend of mine and I went there on a Friday night. We both got a combo meal and it wasn't good. I ordered a beef burrito when it was supposed to be bean and a beef taco. The beef was salty. I couldn't eat very much of it. My friend ordered a beef chimichanga and a quesadilla. The chimi was salty and the quesadilla was greasy, it looked disgusting. We ordered the combo meals, one sprite, and 2 margaritas and we were charged over $60. We asked a lady to come help explain the bill who didn't seem like she knew what was what. Our waitress explained it to us and found out they automatically include a 15% tip. I pay for the meal and there's a final total of close to $65. I should have paid with cash because they include a processing fee of 3.5% when you pay with card. When I saw that the charge was even more, a lady came to help explain and she was hard to understand. I was VERY disappointed. This place is a rip off and the food isn't good enough for them to be charging tips up front. I'll

Really nice waiter and got chips refilled! Cool ambiance and the special dinner taste of everything was so delicious— highly recommend!

This one of the worse experiences I’ve had with a food place in a long time. My friend and I ordered one of the 12.99 combos and 2 margaritas and somehow the total ended up being over $64. They said that it was because of 15% gratuity automatically added to the total. That is absurd. The food was trifling and salty so we couldn’t even enjoy it. The first margarita I got was ok. The second one had hardly any alcohol in it. Should’ve figured something was off when we saw all the other restaurants lively and full but El maguey was basically empty. They also charge you for using your card there. 3.5% Never again. They’re getting over on their customers. The price wouldn’t be so upsetting if the food was actually worth it. Do better.
